To start with my name is Jody my partners name is Trevor and our sons name is Kallis. I also have two older children Stephanie who is married to Geoff and they have my gawjus granddaughter Davinia and then my other child Jakob who lives with his long term girlfriend Amanda.
Living on large acreage has always been something I have always wanted since being a child. I expect the fact of spending most of my younger years on my Grandfathers Dairy Farm instilled the country life into me forever. Whenever I think back to childhood memories they always go straight to my Pop and his farm and the great times I had there whether it was helping in the milk shed, sliding down the green, grassy slopes on cardboard, playing chicken with the big, old bull or the smelly old boar, exploring the caves, riding the horses or just the simple walks out to the old tree with my Pop everything was memorable. Trevor grew up in a small country town and in his teenage years he worked on a Station in Western Queensland helping with the properties mechanical maintenance and droving duties with cattle.
In 2015 an opportunity arose for Trevor and myself to be able to purchase a house on 10 acres in the beautiful Lockyer Valley, so after living in our Toowoomba house for the past 18 years we nervously but happily moved with our son Kallis and our Neapolitan Mastiffs. After dealing with a few health problems I was excited to be able to have the opportunity at growing a lot of my own non contaminated vegetables and fruit trees.
The three of us have been living our new life for just over a year now and even though its had its ups and downs life is so much better. We are trying our hand at few different things eg: Bananas, Tagasaste, Bamboo, Proteas, Vegetables and Cattle and we will see in a few years which of our ideas are the best to suit us and the area we live in.
