Banana Flower Preparation.
- I believe the most important thing when it comes to banana flowers is obtaining the freshly picked banana flower direct from the farm to ensure that its fresh and preservative free. You will also need a lime or lemon to help prepare the flower.
- The next step is to cut the (in this example) Lime in halve and coat the cutting board and knife in Lime juice. Then prepare a bowl of Clean Tank or Bottled water and squeeze the Lime juice into the water and throw the remaining lime into the water.
- Now to peel all the purple tinted petals from the flower until you reveal the ‘White Heart’ of the Flower. By achieving this carefully you can utilise these parts of the flower to serve your dish in.
- Now you need to cut the Stem from the Flower and chop the ‘White Heart’ into fine slices and place into your bowl of Water. In addition you can remove the stems from the layers of flowers between which were between the purple petals and place them in the water as well.
- Leave the Water sit for 20 minutes before Draining through filter to separate the banana flower from the water and serve as desired.
